The holidays are time for fun, love, laughter and most important FOOD. Most holidays involve food of some sort and there is nothing wrong with eating food during the holidays but we have to be aware of what we do on a holiday so that we don’t fall victim to over eating and feeling regretful after the holiday because we indulged or ate so much.
Me and Shay-Lon )Fitnessgrad) Did a blog collaboration 10 Suggestions to Avoid the Holiday Plump make sure to check it out. Since the holidays for some of us in the U.S. are literally around the corner I wanted to share what to do on the Holiday when it arrives.
Here I want to keep it short and sweet. Here are 4 commandments you should live by on a holiday if you are trying to stay on track for your weight loss and or lifestyle change
Commandment #1: Thou shalt save calories
On the actual holiday you should fast or save your calories until dinner time. You should plan according to the time the feast will happen. Have water, ½ cup of vegetables and ½ cup of any fruit to hold you over until dinner time starts
Commandment #2: Thou shalt work out
On the actual holiday you should at least plan a workout before you head to the dinner table. It would be ideal if you would work out before and after the big feast (who are we kidding) many of us won’t even worry about the gym on a holiday let alone go to the gym after having some home cooked food and hanging with family. Still plan for a work out that day
Commandment #3: Thou shalt pre-plan what you will eat
When you show up to the dinner table know or have an idea of what you will eat. You more than likely will know what food will be there so decide before you get there what you will and how much. Think in portions and satisfying you taste buds but not over indulging
Commandment #4: Thou shalt make your own plate
Dish out your own plate because you know what you want and you know how much your stomach needs. If someone else does it for you they may pack on all the things you don’t need or something that you may be trying to stay away from. Avoid all that hassle and dish out your own plate
Bring on the holidays and have fun!
