PHD or Credential? Both? Depressing isn’t it

In high school they told me get a BA. Got  the BA, that’s not enough get MA. Dreaded it but I got a MA. Got a MA now its you need a credential to complement your MA. If you get the PHD then you will be competitive.

Ain’t this about a blip…If you are new to my blog Hi,welcome. But I am currently looking for a position in the education and or social services field. I want to support and encourage youth to be the best that they can be. Sounds cliche ….huh I know …I know but that’s where my heart is.

I have been putting in my applications. I have been getting calls, interviews, second round interviews but these are for the more entry level positions. I want the main position  not the assistant position.

When I look at certain positions that excite me, I scroll down to requirements and there stares me in the face

**Must have Pupil Personnel Service credential and or PHD in Education, Psychology and or Social work**

FML 😦

That grinds my gears every time because I thought what I got was enough but I guess not. Now I’m staring down the barrel of the gun called graduate school again. Dilemma is do I get 1 or the other or get both?

Moral to this post.

Be a step ahead in life. Always check out whats needed now and what maybe needed in the future because requirments change we need to be prepared for that.

What do you guys think?

Do both or just 1? Or not at all? Is there another way to become a school psychogist?

I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but in my city it is also awfully difficult to find a job, even with a degree or degrees. Hang in there. If you believe you are meant for this you can sell yourself on your enthusiasm and passion for the job!
