How to Embrace When Your Goals Change | Free Worksheet + Audio

Remember when told everyone you were going to start your business, graduate next summer, get the promotion, run that marathon,  go back to school, or lose 20 lbs. Do any of these goals ring a bell? We have blurted out these goals for months BUT what if your goal changed and you are not doing that specifically anymore.

Do you feel like a liar? Like a failure? Like you shouldn’t have said anything in the first place? Do you feel like if I just had kept my mouth shut no one would hold me to what I said? Or wish people would just forget what you said?

Well my friend you don’t have to feel like that. The only person you have to answer to is YOU. You don’t have to pretend you are still going after that goal when your goals may have completely changed.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Review: Go over what were your previous goals. Write them all down. Really look at those goals and cross out anything that just isn’t a part of your current goal any more. Its OKAY if a goal you had gets the axe. Chop it and move on you have to focus on your new goals. Or a goal may not need the big chop but no longer high on the priority list.
  2. Identify: You have to identify what has your top attention. If you did #1 (write down all goals) You now have to re-write them in the order of most to least important. You have to choose/identify what goal holds the most priority to you now and will need your most attention get it accomplished.
  3. Establish: You have to establish your new game plan to execute your new goals. You can’t have new goals and an old game plan, it just doesn’t work like that. You have to set the goal, have a time frame and a way to measure if your new goal is being accomplished at your pace.

Now that you have figured out your new goals. Embrace then and share them with anyone who asks you about your previous goals.

I’ll even give you what to say.

For example someone may say to you “Hey I thought you were going to (insert your old goal here)”

You say “Thank you for remembering my “previous goal” but its no longer that but (Insert your NEW goal here) and I hope you support me”

Have your goals ever changed? How did you embrace your new goals?
