You could lose a few pounds. Are you starving yourself? Don’t get too skinny.I didn’t want to tell you BUT you were getting fat. Don’t lose too much weight. Hold the freaking presses no one asked you for your unwanted comments.
All of the comments I put above are some of the comments that I have gotten on my weightloss journey and the list could go on but these stick out in my mind as of now. Maybe you have received these comments or you may experience it in the future I want to give you 3 ways to deal with these unwanted comments
Prepare, Understand & Slow reaction
- Prepare-Prepare yourself for anybody , family and strangers to come out of the wood works with both good and bad comments. Understand that you loosing weight will cause people to all of a sudden vocalize their opinion on what you are doing with your body so I urge you to prepare yourself and be aware that comments especially the negative unwanted ones will come your way just be alert and prepare for them
- Understand– Understand that some people are not trying to be malicious some where in their minds they are actually trying to encourage you, they just don’t know how to put it in better sounding words. Also understand you embarking on a new journey can cause others to look at themselves and instead on them evaluating and working out their own problems they will make you feel like your weightloss journey is a problem . Try and understand where the other person is coming from.
- Slow reaction – Be slow to react when someone says an unwarranted comment to you because your journey is your own , you have nothing to explain or prove to anyone. Take the high road if possible whether it is a good or bad unwanted comment just thank the person and move on. You don’t have time to feed into any negative or unwanted comments.
