Weight loss does not have to be horrible or dreadful. Some of us make it harder than we have too. By no means am I saying it is easy but I am saying it is not the big bad monster in the closet some of us make it out to be. Yes weight loss/lifestyle change is scary, forces us to pay attention to our body and even exposes the fact that we have a lot to do personally BUT we can work through this.
Let’s review the 3 Reasons your weight loss sucks.
- Rehearsing fails: You have started this before. You have fallen off, stopped and cheated on your weight loss goals. You keep rehearing those unsuccessful moments in your mind. You keep thinking this time will be like the last time and it is a waste of time.
- Too strict: You have told yourself you will not have any soda, juice, cookies, candy, cake, rice, bread or fast-food ever. You have decided that you will be super strict and will remove every “bad food” in your life. You won’t eat or drink anything on your strict list.
- Copycat: You have decided that you like John or Jane’s results. So you ask them or secretly copy what they are doing. You are eating and working out just like John and Jane.
Let’s combat these reasons
- Stop thinking about the previous fails. This is a new day and time. You will be successful this time. If anything do the opposite of what you did last time. If you something worked keep that and if it did not scratch it and do something else.
- Whoa whoa whoa there let’s not go too far. You want to learn to limit yourself but not be so strict. NO you don’t have to get rid of all the goodies in your life but you have to teach yourself your limit. If you have a burger, you can eat half the burger. If you have fries, you should have half the fries. If you have cookies, have two not the dozen that you may be use to (Maybe I should speak for myself here) but you don’t want to be too strict but know your limitations . This is about portion control, serving sizes and knowing yourself.
- Following or copying someone else is a popular thing that some of us do BUT be careful with following others because your fitness level, will power and drive may be different. You have to go at your own pace. You should incorporate something someone else is doing if you would like but don’t feel obligated to follow someone exactly only use what you like and can do.
